Cryogenic steels |
 |
High
toughness ni alloyed steels,
specially designed for low temperature
applications.
Low carbon for enhanced weldability and
superior crack arrest properties for improved safety. |
| |
|
| |
The appropriate steel solution
is defined by the type of gas and its cryogenic storage temperature.
Thanks to a variation of Ni content, we are able to extend the CryElso® family
for specific applications. |

Dimensional
The whole range of cryogenic steel grades can be supplied in the following conditions (CryElso®0.5, 1.5 and 2.25 can also be supplied in plate width below 2500 mm).
Tolerances
Length and width : inscribed rectangle
Thickness : according to the material standard specification
In addition, CryElso® offers a narrower range of thickness tolerances and flatness compared to international standards |
| |
|
| |
Flatness : 5 mm/m
Allowing for easy :
• cutting operation
• plate alignment
• automatic welding
Conditioning
CryElso® 5, 9N and 9Q are supplied in shotblasted condition, with a maximum of 50 gauss residual magnetism thanks to specific mill handling procedures.
Painting
Plates can also be supplied painted according to customer specifications. Please consult for further details. |

Prefabrication
CryElso® grades can be supplied as :
• plasma cut pieces according to drawing with highest tolerances,
• mechanically bevelled rectangular plates
• pre-bent shells
Services
Drop weight testing, CTOD testing, cold and hot forming suitability
Welding
CryElso® grades have been designed to be fully weldable using existing industrial techniques and materials. Our research center (CRMC) can provide the technical assistance required. |
