Industeel is also known for its innovative steel brands developed especially for mold & tool applications and protected by patents:

Mold & tool steels are produced on the 3 Industeel sites:
- plates for molds in Charleroi (Industeel Belgium) and Le Creusot (Industeel Creusot)
- blocks for molds in Châteauneuf (Industeel Loire)
- tool steels in Le Creusot
Applications
Industeel mold steels are used mainly to make plastic injection molds and the associated mechanical parts and supports. They can also be used for extrusion dies, compression molds, thermoforming molds, etc.
Tool steels are divided into two families:
- Cold work (T<150°C) = cutting, stamping and punching
- Hot work (T>150°C) = forging and light alloy die casting

Products for molds
Injection molding is used to mass-produce parts by injecting thermoplastic or thermosetting plastics under a high pressure into a mold.
Steel cost is minimal compared to the total cost of making a mold. However, the right steel can produce substantial savings both in the making of the mold and in the production of the plastic parts through reduced mold maintenance, longer mold service life, simplified mold repair, higher productivity, better overall quality and fewer part defects.
Industeel offers a wide range of standard steel grades for moldmaking and also special steels (Superplast®) providing specific properties, in particular concerning machinability, homogeneity, weldability and thermal conductivity.

Products for tools
A wide variety of tools are required in industry for cutting, shearing, stamping, extrusion, forging and die-casting operations.
To make these tools, you need steels combining specific properties, in particular hardness, wear resistance, toughness, cracking resistance and machinability. The right steel also depends on the usage of the tool, i.e. cold work (cutting, shearing and stamping) or hot work (forging and die-casting).
