Industeel has acquired significant experience with the materials used for storage tanks, merchant shipping and large-diameter pipes, and can supply solutions tailored to the needs of each market sector.


Storage tanks

For high-capacity storage tanks, the duplex stainless steel alternative has met growing success in recent years, replacing coated carbon steels that require expensive maintenance throughout the service life of the tank. The duplex material combines corrosion resistance adapted to the medium in the tank and high strength to reduce wall thickness, making it the best solution for many storage tank applications.

Cryogenic gas storage spheres also gain more and more importance with the extension of petrochemicals projects, and these gain a lot in weight and safety level by being designed and built in thick CryElso® 9Q 9%Ni steel plates as has already been demonstrated in a number of places.

Cryogenic tankers

Natural gas remains today an essential global energy resource. One aspect of long range transportation of natural gas is that it must be liquefied to facilitate transport by ship. The storage temperature during transport is -163°C and the steels you use must therefore have absolutely reliable properties at cryogenic temperature levels.

Pipes

Industeel has specialized in large-diameter and/or thick industrial pipes made of rolled and welded plate for special applications placing particular demands on the steel used. We supply small to mid-sized volumes of special-grade steel for advanced uses such as LNG pipes and tubes for high-pressure and high-temperature steam, or for corrosive liquids in both plain and clad steels forms.
