Recycling

General

You are an actor in the recycling industry, working to reduce raw material production costs while preserving the environment through energy savings, conservation of natural resources and waste volume reduction.

Recovery techniques include mechanical processing of scrap materials such as wood, plastic, paper, glass, minerals, steel, aluminum, tires, chemicals, etc. The most common processes are shredding, crushing, screening, conveying, feeding, grinding and separation or classification.

Primary recycling involves massive (6 to 120 mm thick) wear parts subjected to heavy loads. The required properties are excellent resistance to impacts and cracking as well as high fatigue strength. Parts such as internal liners, screens and heavy-duty hammers and knives on crushers and shedders required wear-resistant steels to meet these needs.

Secondary recycling treatments target a finer recycled product (1 to 10 mm). Wear parts are smaller and harder and must resist abrasion, cracking and chipping. This requires wear-resistant steels or multi-purpose cold work tool steels for parts requiring high wear-resistance but not subjected to heavy impacts (too brittle, high risk of cracking).

Needs

The recycling market is confronted with a new situation where vast quantities of waste must be treated. In addition, the process must be as efficient as possible to maintain the cost-effectiveness and long-term economic viability of recycling. Consequently, recycling companies must maximize equipment service life and minimize downtime.

Lame de cisailleFor this, one of the main problems to be solved is abrasion. The abrasive nature of the materials to be shredded and ground results in continuous wear on the equipment and frequent shutdowns for maintenance.

For this reason, Industeel proposes a wide range of high-performance steel solutions to keep such equipment up and running far longer, thereby eliminating costly downtime, production losses and unnecessary investments in additional equipment.

Industeel also offers solutions providing high yield, impact strength, corrosion resistance and temperature withstand, as needed by many applications in this industry.

Today, much of the recycling industry still uses standard grades developed over 20 years ago, not benefiting from the progress and major innovations achieved in the field of special steels.

Demand for high-performance steel is growing. Industeel is a major producer of special steels and can propose innovative steel solutions via its wear resistant steels and tools steels.
