Mars® is a family of steel grades specially design for military and civil ballistic protection. Its patented chemical composition provides high protection, often beyond technical specifications, with significantly lower weights.

Industeel also supplies steel targets made of Mars® steel plate for the evaluation or qualification of munitions, offering characteristics that are homogeneous throughout the plate thickness and reproducible.

They can be supplied with or without holes or attachments for handling and also in a large range of thicknesses to avoid plates stacking.

The Mars® range offers optimum combinations of hardness, ductility and toughness along with sufficient workability (cutting, machining, welding...)

Dedicated production facilities and appropriate metallurgical solutions are used to produce Mars® plates with hardnesses from 250 to 650 HB and thicknesses from 2,5 to 600 mm (.098 to 24").

A large dimensional program for a complete range |
Thanks to special processes, Mars® range offers excellent flatness for thin plates, retained after cutting due to the absence of residual stresses.
Maximum length = 8 300mm (27' or 326")

Guaranteed flatness on delivery: 3 mm/m (1/8" in every 40")
Statistical flatness characteristics after cutting of plates with thicknesses less than 6 mm:
- 50% of plates ≤ 1 mm / m ( ≤ .40" in every 40")
- 95% of plates ≤ 1,5 mm / m ( ≤ .60" in every 40")
Mars® products also offer the possibility of very tight thickness tolerances (+/-0,2 mm
or +/- .008") for thin plates compared to standard tolerances (+/-0,4 mm or +/- .016").
