CarElso® is a family of CMn steels specially designed for the construction of pressure equipment. It is manufactured in an electric arc furnace using a process that includes desulfurization, dephosphorization, ladle refining and vacuum degassing to provide a reproducible, clean and homogeneous steel.
CarElso® steel plates are designed with the aim of reducing carbon content to provide excellent weldability and toughness. A number of CarElso® products are specially designed to resist Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC), Hydrogen-Induced Cracking (HIC) and Stress-Oriented Hydrogen-Induced Cracking (SOHIC).
These steels are particularly suitable for pressure vessels in which H2S is present, such as those used in the oil and gas industry, complying with the most demanding specifications.
CarElso® is also available in clad plates.
High strength options are also available under our SuperElso® brand.
